ICT1: Advanced Project

Welcome to ICT1: Advanced Project. This journey is an additional material for ICT1 students. This journey is designed to guide you through the subject.

You can find all subject materials at the school subject site or here on ICT1 Google Drive.

Please read the lecture notes, be familiar with agile practices, project management, and process management.

The main objectives of this subject are to apply what you have learnt so far as an IT professional and solve the problems of your clients.

Deliver quality working software early and frequently.
Iterate in short time-boxed cycles to manage risks.

Important Dates

Week 2: Form a team of 2-4. Decide on clients and project.
1. Complete the checklist.
2. Create a shared Google drive folder for the team.
3. Meet with clients to get user stories. Use ICT1_Project_Form.
4. Breakdown user stories to requirements and estimate time.
5. Select requirements for Alpha-release (3 month) and Final release (3 month). Use ICT1_Project_Form.
6. Complete client scope agreements. Use this form.
7. Complete contract signed by clients. Use this form.
8. Run the first iteration. Use this form for feedback for demo1.
Week 6: Submit A1 Project document before the workshop to LearnJCU. A1 Marked during the workshop.
Week 9: Presentation deadline. Do the presentation before or on Week 9
Week 10: Audit during the workshop.

Week 1:

Lecture 1: principles of Agile practice (slide)
Teamwork:
1. Form a group, group leader create a group for ICT1 journey. *Choose the correct season for the group.
2. Meet with potential clients, choose a project.
3. Elect a student leader, help to form groups with right skill sets.
4. All students complete check list

Week 2:

Lecture 2:Overview of Extreme Programming (slide)
Teamwork:
1. Group leader create a journey on KOPO ME designer. Add members as editors. Each member work on a chapter. E.g., Project description for non-ICT technical stakeholders.
2. Continue on meeting with potential clients, choose a project. Take photo with clients.
Workshop 1: Report your meetings with clients.

Week 3

Lecture 3: Overview of Extreme Programming (slide)
Workshop 2: Project description for non-ICT-technical stakeholders and general audience.

Week 4

Lecture 4: Planning (slide)
Workshop 3:
1. Planning and scope of alpha-release (Project audit at the end of CP3046/5046 subject).
2. Planning and scope of the final-release (Project audit at the end of CP3047/5047 subject).

Week 5

Lecture 5: Testing (slide)
Workshop 4: Project development ICT infrastructure.

Lecture 6: Refactoring (slide)
Workshop 5:
1. Submit your A1 document to LearnJCU by Week 6 Friday.
2. Assignment 1 Marked during the workshop

Week 8

Lecture 7: Introduction to Project Management
Workshop 6:
1. Project development ICT infrastructure.
2. Start to work on Project release ICT infrastructure.
  All ICT infrastructure required for the alpha-release must be in place. For example, deployment tools, external server/hosting, domain names. It is not acceptable to have identical development and release/production infrastructures.

Week 9

Lecture 8: Introduction to Project Management
Workshop 7 & 8:
1. Demonstrate some completed user stories from the proposed alpha-release.
2. Get feedback from your lecturer and/or client.
3. Keep working on the rest of Assignment 3 (Audit)

Week 10

Lecture 9 & 10: Project Management and Information Technology Context
Workshop 9
1. Demonstrate some more completed user stories from the proposed alpha-release. Continue completing the relevant section of A3.
2. Planning and scope of BETA-release (middle of CP3047/5047 subject).
3. Planning and scope of the final-release (Project audit at the end of CP3047/5047 subject).
4. Finalized project release ICT infrastructure. All ICT infrastructure required for the alpha-release must be in place. For example, deployment tools, external server/hosting, domain names. It is not acceptable to have identical development and release/production infrastructures.

Week 11

Presentation (preferably presentations should be done before Week 11. I recommend week 9 or week 10)
Audit marking: (5min interviews by Tutor)
